The Polyworld HI Manifesto
Polyworld sees AI as a multiplier of Human Intelligence (HI).
Our goal is simple: to expand the power of human intelligence using AI.
The formula that we apply is also simple:
HI×AI=HI²
HI starts with human experts as sources of concentrated intellect and vision — developed through years of learning, practice, judgement and feedback from reality.
Over generations, human intelligence has expanded through teaching and learning.
Teaching allows what one human has learned to become available to others.
Learning allows us to engage with the intelligence of others, test it against our own experience, and enhance our own intelligence.
But both have always been constrained by human bandwidth.
An expert can publish to millions but can only engage deeply with a few.
A learner can access the work of thousands of experts but is limited in how deeply they can engage or fully understand.
AI changes the equation.
AI multiplies the capacity of HI to connect with HI.
Biology teaches us something fundamental about intelligence.
The intelligence of a neural network doesn't reside in one superintelligent neuron above the others. It emerges from the connections between neurons.
We believe the same principle applies to human intelligence.
The opportunity presented by AI is therefore greater than creating increasingly intelligent machines or an abundance of content.
It is the opportunity to create richer, deeper and more numerous connections between human minds — connections through which they can teach, learn, respond and expand.
And so, in biological terms, increase the overall synaptic capacity of human intelligence.
The greater intelligence that results does not have to belong to a machine.
It can emerge from us.
HI uses AI not to create a superintelligence above humans, but to expand the connections between them — so greater intelligence can emerge.
